1. Pick Two Metal Colors

For the purposes of making this a simple strategy that anyone can do, we will only be using 2 metals. So the first step is choosing which 2 metals you want to use in your bathroom.

For some, this is the easy part, because they already know which metals they want to mix. But take your time in considering all color options because there are soooooo many to choose from!

There is your typical chrome and brushed nickel. Darker metals such as oil rubbed bronze or matte black or black stainless.

There are a variety of gold finishes as well, such as brass, antique brass, and champagne!

Not to mention, the ever-popular copper fixtures that come in hammered copper, washed copper, and antique copper! The choices have definitely multiplied from just a few years ago!

Once you have your two metal color finishes picked you are ready for the next step!

Note: Keep in mind that picking fixtures with the same gold/copper color name DOES NOT mean that they will be the exact same color, especially when purchasing from different brands. It’s okay if your gold metals don’t match perfectly as long as they are similar in tones and style.

2. Choose Your Dominant Metal

The next step is deciding which of your two bathroom metals will be your DOMINANT color. This is the color that you find the prettiest! The one that will be the star of the show!

Once you figure out your dominant color, all you have to do is make sure you get all of the BIG fixtures in this color.

For example, the showerhead, faucet(s), and light fixtures. Now you are ready for the next and last step in this super-easy way to mix your bathroom metals. Are you ready for it?

3. Choose An Accent Metal

Once you have your dominant metal picked out, all you have to do is choose the accent metal! That’s it! It’s that easy!

This will be your “background” metal. So basically you get EVERYTHING else in this metal color! All the little accent finishes and fixtures such as towel rings, towel rods or hooks, toilet paper holders, knobs, etc.

You may end up with more accent metal pieces but don’t worry! They will be a great accent to your dominant and larger metal pieces!

Pro tip: If you want to mix 3 different metals, you can still use this simple 3 step strategy. Just follow the same steps above, but instead of choosing 1 accent metal, you will choose 2 accent metals. Now it is better if the accent metals kind of “match”. This will keep them in the same “background-color” category. For example, you can choose nickel and polished chrome as your two accent metals with brass gold or matte black as your dominant color.

Thin Black Frame Mirror

If you notice above, I did sort of break my own rule about getting all the large bathroom finishes in your dominant color, because my LARGE mirror has a black frame which is actually my accent color. But there are two reasons for that.

First of all, even though the mirror itself is huge, the black metal frame around it is very thin. So it doesn’t overpower or compete with the gold DOMINANT pieces in my bathroom.

Secondly, I wanted to create a contrast between the gold faucets and gold sconces around the mirror. In the end, I think it turned out beautifully and perfectly mixed.
