5 Ingredients For Your Strawberry Blueberry Cobbler

EASY AS PIE

Not to mention, it’s super easy to make!

Everyone will marvel at your amazing cooking skills after tasting a bite of this delicious cobbler!

I call this a five-ingredient cobbler because I am counting the fruits as one.

Strawberries And Blueberries For 4th Of July

And the truth is you can use this same recipe to make ANY fruit cobbler.

Including peach cobbler! I have even used canned peaches with this recipe and it is delish! Just make sure to get the ones that come in heavy syrup!

But strawberries and blueberries are a MUST for the 4th of July! These berries are an easy way to bring out your patriotic creativity! It’s also a great dessert for Memorial Day!

Spoon Strawberries And Blueberries Into Your Batter

A PERFECT CRUST

The key to this recipe is to NOT STIR the batter with the melted butter or the fruits.

The self-rising flour will allow the crust to rise over the fruits, creating a delicious crust!

Make sure to let it get evenly browned throughout. This creates the perfect consistency, and avoids a soggy center! Nobody likes a soggy cobbler!

SERVING

Once you let the cobbler cool off for at least 20 minutes, you can serve it with ice cream!

Make sure to add some berries to the plate! This will be a light and fresh complement to the sweetness of the cobbler.

And a drizzle of caramel syrup goes a long way to make this dessert absolute perfection!

Strawberry Blueberry Cobbler With Ice Cream And Toppings

There’s just nothing more American than a good warm cobbler topped with cold vanilla ice cream! My mouth waters just thinking about it!

The hot and cold combination makes this strawberry blueberry cobbler a perfect dessert throughout the year!

I have even made this for Christmas because it’s everyone’s favorite dessert! They don’t want anything else!

Equipment

  • 1 8×8 Baking Dish A glass dish is preferable

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries and blueberries) Cut your strawberries vertically into 2 to 5 slices, depending on the size of the strawberry.

Top With

  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream

Optional Toppings

  • carmel
  • fresh strawberries and blueberries to garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place half a stick of butter (which is equal to 1/4 cup) in the oven in an 8×8 baking dish to melt.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the sugar and self rising flour and mix well.
  • Slowly add the milk while stirring to prevent the batter from lumping.
  • Carefully remove the hot baking dish from the oven with the melted butter.
  • Pour your batter directly over melted butter WITHOUT STIRRING IT. The most important part of this recipe it to NOT STIR anything in the baking dish!
  • Spoon your strawberries and blueberries onto the dish, again, WITHOUT STIRRING!
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, until nicely browned everywhere.
  • Let it cool for 15-20 minutes and serve with vanilla ice cream.

Serving

  • Serve the cobbler warm. If you made it ahead of time, you can warm it up in the oven when ready to serve. You can also warm up individual servings in the microwave for a few seconds.
  • Any fruit cobbler is incomplete without vanilla ice cream!
  • Add some extra strawberries and blueberries on top.
  • Top it off with carmel syrup.

Notes

  1. You can double this recipe and place it on a 9×13 baking dish. Cook time will vary.
  2. Make sure your berries are not too ripe. This can make the cobbler soggy and/or runny. Also, I don’t recommend using frozen berries. But if you do, don’t let them thaw out. This makes them too juicy and soggy. Instead, place the frozen berries directly in your mix and in the oven.
  3. Don’t let the butter brown in the oven. Keep an eye on it and take it out as soon as it’s melted.
  4. Make sure the batter is mixed well into a thin and runny mixture. It can start to thicken at the bottom if left alone even for a few minutes. So make sure to mix it again before pouring it onto the butter.
  5. I like to brown the entire cobbler, not just the edges. This way the center of the cobbler won’t be soggy or undercooked. You want that crust to crisp up nicely!
  6. Store the cobbler in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
