Vehicle/Transportation Theme – Big Boy Room Design Board Inspiration

I am so excited to share my kids’ big boy room design board! My boys absolutely LOVE everything vehicle-related. From planes to trains, to trucks and cars, you name it! So I knew I wanted to give the boys’ room a vehicle/transportation theme, with just a few types of transportation as the main highlights of the room, while still incorporating other vehicles as well!

Coming Up With A Design For A Vehicle/Transportation Theme

I have been working on the perfect decor mix for months now! My objective is to create a blend of vintage, farmhouse, and industrial styles by incorporating neutrals, metals, and wood accents throughout.

I also want to make this a room that my boys can grow into since they are only 5 and 6 years old right now.

My older son, Nathan, loves airplanes. He wants to be a pilot when he grows up! And my little guy, Ethan, loves cars and construction vehicles. So their bedsheets and some of the wall decor will be highlighting their favorite vehicles.

Since it is a boys’ room, I want to add some decorative pieces with boy signs as well.

How To Make The Different Vehicle Decor Work Well Together

My kids share a bedroom. And even though they love all types of vehicles, they have their favorites! So I wanted to make sure the different vehicle decor blended nicely in the room.

And getting a “room in a box” vehicle theme just isn’t my style. I can easily go to a department store and buy everything in their vehicle/transportation theme aisle. But my kids’ room would end up looking like a showroom, and that’s definitely not the look I’m going for.

So how did I manage to blend all the different decorative pieces together? By finding unique decorative accents that were similar in color.

Not to mention making sure they fit the decorative style of the room as well.
