How To Style A Dresser Top For Any Design Style In 2021
Styling a dresser top or console table has always been one of my favorite decorating projects. I like to play around with different materials, colors, and heights. But figuring out your style and implementing it in your decor can be tricky. Not to mention finding the right balance so that it looks pleasing to the eye. NO WORRIES THOUGH! I found an easy way to style a dresser top no matter what design style you have! I will show you how to style a dresser top in 2021 using 4 simple steps that anyone can follow!
1. Start With A Mirror
Start with the biggest item on the dresser. The mirror! If possible, try placing the mirror on top of the dresser instead of hanging it.
Obviously, if you have a circular mirror then I would not suggest placing it directly on the dresser top as it can roll off!
You can also place a large piece of art on the dresser. But I highly recommend a mirror. It will be easier to style around, especially for the next step in styling your dresser!
2. Layer Your Mirror
So now that you have your mirror up, it’s time to layer it. You can layer your mirror with a piece of art, a large picture frame, windowpane decor, or even another mirror!
Whatever you choose, just lean it against the mirror (that is hopefully leaning as well) a little off to the side.
I like to place the layering piece a little off to the right side. It should be smaller than the mirror so placing it to the right just makes visual sense. Looking at it from left to right, big to small.

3. Balance On Both Ends
Now that we have a bit of interest going on with our layered look, we need to bring some balance back by adding a bit of height on BOTH ends of your dresser. This could be done with lamps, vases, florals, candle holders, etc.
Now they don’t have to be exactly the same size. Just make sure one end of the dresser doesn’t overpower the other end.
4. Short Decorative Accent In The Center
So enough height, let’s tone things down a bit and show off our lovely layered look by adding a short decorative accent in the center of the dresser top. Some great options are trays, bowls, or catchalls.
I really like the look of dough bowls. It’s a nice way to anchor the center of the dresser with a low, yet heavy piece.
And there you have it! How to style your dresser in 4 easy steps, no what your decorative style is!
